Instagram updated its Edits app again and this time with tools that make it way easier to keep track of your content ideas. (which honestly, we all need).

Instagram’s Edits app now lets you organize video ideas using color-coded stickies under the Ideas tab. Easily plan content like close-up tattoo shots or collab videos and keep everything in one place.

Here’s what changed and how it can help you as a tattoo artist:

📝 You can now leave sticky notes on audio

Let’s say you hear a sound and think “This would be perfect for a video of me tattooing”… you can now add a note right on the audio so you don’t forget the idea later.

You can now save sounds in Instagram’s Edits app and add sticky notes directly on the audio, like reminders for what kind of tattoo content you want to pair it with. No more forgetting that perfect sound.

✅ Mark things as done when you post them

If you’ve got a running list of content ideas (like flash drops, time-lapse vids, etc.), you can now mark each one as done inside the app. It’ll cross it off for you, so you know what’s been posted and what’s still in the queue.

🎯 Filter and sort your ideas

You can organize your notes by what’s “to-do” vs “done,” or sort by when you saved it or even color-code them. Basically, it helps you see what’s ready to go and what still needs filming.

Screenshot of Instagram’s Edits app showing the Ideas tab with stickies for content planning. Two sticky notes read “Close up – Set up camera zoomed in to me tattooing” and “Tattoo Collab – Take a trending audio and collab with another artist.” A dropdown menu displays filtering options: To-do, Done, and All Done.

🎧 Save audio directly to your Ideas tab

You don’t have to scroll through Saved folders anymore. If you like a sound, just save it straight into your ideas list. Now it’s all in one place! The audio + your notes on what to do with it.

These updates won’t change HOW you create, but they’ll make it way easier to stay on top of your video projects, especially if you’re balancing a full client load.

If you’re trying to post more consistently, this could actually help you plan without it feeling like “planning.”

Just update your Edits app and play around with the Ideas tab. It’s simple, but it can make your content feel a lot more manageable.
